Kick-off meeting of the ITEM project

The kick-off meeting of the new CBHE project "ITEM: Innovative Teaching Education in Mathematics" was held on February 14-15  in Greece. The project consortium brings together 16 higher educational institutions from 10 countries: Greece, Denmark, Austria, Sweden, Spain, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Israel and Uzbekistan. During the two-day meeting, presentations of the ITEM project were held by the Grantholder, active round-table discussions were conducted between partners, problematic questions that will be presented in curricula/programs in mathematics (mathematical analysis, linear algebra) were identified. In addition, issues related to the distribution plan for the project, tools, and actions for the use of work packages, financial management of the project, as well as quality assurance procedures and tools were discussed.

In the framework of the ITEM project the skills and experience of European partners in the field of modern teaching methods will be used in order to help partner countries improve their mathematics teaching in consortium universities, thereby allowing students to improve their employability and be better prepared to the advancement of new technologies in their countries. The project team is confident that the acquired knowledge and experience that will be gained during the project realization will help participating partner countries to  improve and optimize their strategies and tools for teaching mathematics.
